What is on the T-shirt

The photo shows a white short-sleeved cotton T-shirt laid flat on a blanket, with the shop tag still attached at the collar. Dozens of small patches and prints are scattered over it: parodies of famous logos on the left, and a set of retro holiday-style labels on the right.

Among the parodies you can spot "NUKE" with the Nike swoosh, "COCO CANAL" with two interlocking Cs like Chanel, "PUMBA" with a warthog instead of the leaping puma, "peepi" in Pepsi colours, "Hell" with the Shell scallop hiding a skull, "adidog" with three stripes and a dog, "WONS" in the style of Vans, "NICE" in a blue circle like the NASA logo, "evils" in the red Levi's tab and "LAKOKSE" with a small animal instead of the Lacoste crocodile. There is also the real logo of Biedronka, a Polish supermarket chain with a ladybird mascot, and a small Aldi logo.

On the right side, near the chest, are orange, black and beige patches with slogans such as "Sea Air Sun", "Available for weekend", "Weekend Good Energy Club", "Nice weather", "Malibu", "Surfing Paradiso Florida", "Paradis Jungle" and "Palm Beach Florida".

Technique and style

This is a clothing design, not a painting: an original T-shirt with prints that combines two trends, brand parody (bootleg style) and vintage surf aesthetics. The logos are deliberately altered to make people laugh at the associations, and their scattered, chaotic layout looks like a collection of stickers on a suitcase. The artist adds that he will also make Kubota-style flip-flops with the Biedronka logo on request.

Fun fact

Shell, whose logo is turned into "Hell" here, really is named after seashells. In the 19th century, Marcus Samuel Sr ran an antiques shop in London selling boxes and ornaments decorated with shells imported from the Far East. His sons later went into the oil trade but kept the name in memory of the family business.
